Hi my name is Almond Greenway I am the person who made this web site from materials supplied by Marianne,  I have know her since I was about 16 years old,  so that is well over thirty years.  I am proud to tell you that I am the God Father of her daughter,  and that Marianne has allowed me to be a part of her life for all these years.  I have not always been around to see all the events at first hand but I have been close enough to know what has been going on.  I had my own career in the entertainment business and my own family life to pursue.  I have been roadie for her and for a short time I even did a bit of management.  However,  You have not come here to hear my story.

After all these years I still consider Marianne to be my best friend,  I have never sort reciprocation nor have I ever asked her about this, nor would I.  Initially this site was constructed for that friendship and much has happened since then.

Paul Simon,  Tom Paxton,  Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor are the voices that always hit deep into the emotional side of me but more than all of them Marianne Segal's voice is the one that cuts the deepest. Marianne has been singing Joni Mitchell songs since before most British people knew weather Joni was a boy or a girl. At this time Marianne's musical head was full of the 'Doobie Brothers' and 'Little Feet'.  Very far away now.

In the 1970's she toured with her band to many venues.  Often they found themselves in 'Folk Clubs' where many of the 'Traditionalists'  thought 'Led Zeppelin' had arrived.  I remember that not all Folk Clubs were well attended.  I performed on Monday nights at The Half Moon Pub in Putney,  sometimes Ralph MacTell would come in but there were always plenty of seats available.  However, Friday night with Marianne Segal was something else,  there was no room to stand if you arrived to late.  She was well known and well liked then.  It seems now that a new generation of people are discovering her.  The re-release of 'Fly On Strangewings' and a Single CD for the Girl Guides have brought her back to the spot-light and a new set of people to enjoy her fine music. 'Paper Flowers', a new CD with a collection of 'old' recordings featuring Marianne and Dave Waite has also caused a stir recently.  So did the reforming of the original ' Silver Jade' band they performed a number of concerts which were well received.  Now there is another CD 'The Gathering'
