Marianne joined her first band, singing into an old microphone which began life in a public telephone ! When school was out, Grey Coats Tooting--London, Danny Kirwin Danny Kirwin -later guitarist with 'Fleetwood Mac'played drums. She had never sung like this before and wasn't sure if she really wanted to but once she got the bug she couldn't stop. Marianne was 15 and unlike most teenagers had already found what she liked wanted to do in her life. So in the basement of her parents shop she began a career the is still very much alive today. She was 'On the Road' as the resident singer of 'The Nags Head Folk Club' in Battersea--London, anyone who knew it, it is long since gone, will remember the smell of the candle factory opposite (or was it glucose no one could decide), she played in a 'Duo' with Malcolm Laws. Malcolm Laws--went on to Produce music for television documentaries.

Very soon D.J. Promotions recognised Marianne's talents and set her to work in the Folk Clubs of London and Surrey. She performed 'In Concert' with Alex Campbell and 'Black Cat Bones' ('Black Cat Bones' with Christine Mc Vie - later with 'Fleetwood Mac'). Tony Hatch and Jackie Trent (Tony Hatch had his first hit in 1962 he wrote many theme tunes for popular TV Shows. He was married to Jackie Trent, she was 39 weeks in the British Charts in 1965 with 'When Summer Time is Over'). were two of the 'hottest' properties in the British Music Industry at that time Marianne performed in a BBC Radio Show with them in her first year in the Business

Marianne was performing at the Angler's Folk Club in Teddington-Middlesex, it was here she met Dave Waite, before long a strong professional and personal relationship developed and they formed a duo working London Clubs like 'Les Cousins and the 'romantic' cellar coffee bar 'Bungies' in a side street left as you walk down to Trafalgar Square from Cambridge Circus. Dave Waite, had been a member of 'The Countrymen' They had a hit single in 1962 it was in the British charts for two weeks at No: 45. It is fair to say that he had a great influence on Marianne's career. (He also had a huge impact upon the success that I enjoyed in the entertainment business) Agent/Talent Scout Sandy Glennon spotted them and sent them to work all over Britain.
