1968 It took three years, from a standing start, to her first television appearance, it was on Grampian Television, they served the greatest land area of Britain at that time. She broke through on to other stations like Harlech and TyneTees. She appeared with 'The Settlers' 'The Strawbs' and 'Mathew's Southern Comfort'. Not only that but the most famous and respected television and radio broadcasters in the world invited her--not once but many times. There were regular spots on radio with Jim Lloyd in 'Folk on Sunday'. The BBC Television people needed a song with an environmental theme so Marianne wrote and recorded 'A Better Side of Me'.

1969 If you are in the 'Music Business' you will have a notion of how great, how tough, how crazy and how fantastically wonderful it can be. A girl just an adult embarked on a tour around Britain as the support with Peter Sarstead who was Number One in the Charts. Almost unbelievable but so very true. Peter Sarstead, he wrote the song 'Where Do You Go To My Lovely' it hit the charts for 16 weeks and got to Number One. I wonder who remembers the follow up 'Frozen Orange Juice' a hit in June 1969 it got to Number 10 in the British Charts. Sandy Glennon arranged an introduction to Jon Miller for Management and Publishing--all in the same year. Marianne and Dave Waite performed contemporary material and Marianne's orginal songs, always pushing the boundaries of the 'Traditional Folk Clubs'.

1970 She was on a roll, no one knew Elton John but she and he were signed to the same Record Company there was a record deal and a joint Publishing Contract with Jon Miller and DJM Dick James Music (DJM), DJM published The Beatles Songs through Northern Songs' later Northern Songs was bought by Michael Jackson. Elton John, Philip Goodhand-Tait, Hookfoot and Actor Edward Woodwood, were all signed to DJM, Elton John had his first hit in 1971--'Your Song'. Jon Miller
