Marian Segal -- Jade -- Silver Jade

Jade was formed in 1970 to promote the album of songs written by Marian Segal. Jade consisted of: Dave Waite, guitar, banjo and vocals...Rod Edwards: keyboards, bass and vocals.. .and Marian Segal: vocals, guitar and keyboards.

Rod Edwards and Roger Hand had their own recording contract and worked as: 'The Piccadilly Line' and later, 'Edward's Hand'. Shortly after the making of the JADE album Rod Edwards discontinued live work with JADE apart from some television shows which included "The Old Grey Whistle Test" and His brother Garry Edwards took over his place for the live work.

'Fly on Strangewings' was released in June and it flew straight into 'The Melody Maker' (A British Music News Paper) Album of the month slot. It became 'Folk album of the month.'

The single, "Alan's Song" was released from the album in July.

The name JADE was taken and used by a three-girl group in the 1980s.

"Fly Me To The North" one of the songs on the album, has been recorded and released by several other artists. Rod Mckuen, Back Ally Choir and John and Mary

JADE toured America and England to promote the album. The U.K. pressing of the album was a double cover with photos, credits and lyrics inside. It was simply called 'JADE' on the front cover. The U.S.A. pressing on 'Bell Records' was a single album cover with only part of the original photo on the front and the lyrics and credits on the back. The U.S.A. pressing was called: 'Marian Segal with Silver Jade', 'Fly On Strangewings'
